Microsoft’s Power BI is a visualization tool that gets you unprecedented actionable insights at the pace of business. Introduction to Power BI is a course that offers a comprehensive curriculum that will help you become proficient in Power BI desktop. This will be your guide for operating the end-to-end process of turning raw data into insightful reports.
It is an instructor-led course taught by industry experts and covers:
- Pre-processing data
- Data quality
- Data filtration and transformation
- Developing detailed, and interactive visualizations
The course encompasses a series of lectures supplemented with hands-on exercises. It is designed both for practitioners and beginners. For beginners, the foundational concepts will get you where you need to be to hit the ground running. For practitioners, this course will add to your existing knowledge and instill confidence in you, enabling you to emulate these learnings at work.
What You'll Learn
Get started with Power BI: You will define Power BI and discuss the business value of using it. Also, how to install and run Power BI Desktop, the key components of this tool, and explore regional settings and Power BI features and workflows.
Connect and Transform Data: You will be introduced to different types of data connectors and learn how to connect to different data sources (Microsoft Excel, CSV, PBDIS). You will learn how to preprocess, transform, pivot, unpivot, group, and aggregate your data. Also, you will merge and append queries and use the power query editor for data transformation.
Create a Data Model: You will discuss what a data model is, how to create and manage table relationships, and learn about relationship cardinality.
Analyze Data using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX): DAX is the language used in Analysis Service, Power BI, and Power Pivot in Excel. You will learn to create DAX tables, and use basic math & statistics functions, basic date & time functions, text functions, and calculate and filter functions.
Visualize Data: You will learn about many in-built visualizations Power BI offers and their uses. You will also learn how to analyze your reports by slicing and filtering to generate insights.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Connect to various sources of data and build a unified data model using relationships.
- Analyze, clean, preprocess, and transform data using the user-friendly set of ribbons, menus, buttons, and other interactive components.
- Use DAX to slice and summarize data.
- Use Power Query to clean, load, and transform data.
- Build insightful visualizations using the drag and drop interface of Power BI.
- Build an end-to-end pipeline for Data Visualization using Microsoft Power BI.
